At Kennebec we love hearing from families about the successes their campers have had. We work very
hard to help each camper achieve success, grow socially, have an enjoyable, memory filled summer and
to make new friends.
Below are some of the testimonials we have received from families. If you would like
to speak with some of our parents we do have some parental references we can provide to you.
Matthew attended Camp Kennebec for two weeks in 2009 and when we asked if he was interested in going back he was excited. We told him that there was a four week option and he didn't give it a second thought. This year he really enjoyed fishing and when we picked him up was disappointed that we didn't send along his fishing pole. He wants to go back next year with his fishing gear and catch the big ones he wasn't able to get this year.

I can't say enough about all Kennebec has done for Chris. From his first summer several years ago, Kennebec staff has shown an innate understanding of who Chris is, have fostered his strengths and have helped him work on areas of challenge.all in a positive ego-enhancing manner as opposed to the authoritarian, critical, humiliating and exclusionary ways he had so often experienced in other settings. As I look now at my mature, confident 16 year old with a strong circle of friends, and more importantly a strong sense of who he is and who he wants to be, it is hard to recognize the young boy who first appeared at Kennebec. While I don't pretend to attribute all of Chris's gains to Kennebec, I truly do not believe he would be where he is today without the support, acceptance and opportunity for growth he was given each summer. Thanks Kennebec for the difference you've made in Chris's life.

Mike and I just wanted to thank you and everyone else at Kennebec for continuing to provide Luke with such wonderful experiences. He had, once again, such a great time. Congratulations on doing such a fine job. Luke really enjoyed the academic program with Dee. He also met new friends and reunited with old ones. We can't thank you enough for the care and camp experience that you provide.

Our son has been a camper at Kennebec for over eleven years. Yes, we were worried that first year we left him up there. How would the camp understand him, would he be bullied, would he be able to express how he was feeling, would we be kept informed, would his medication be handled properly. Well they did understand him, they made sure he wasn't bullied, his medication was taken each day, they were always available to answer our questions and he did learn how to express himself. Every year he became more social, more independent and bolder in trying new foods and new activities he would never had tried at home. We saw how much the camp appreciated his strengths while respecting his differences. Now when we drop him off at the beginning of the summer we know that he is in a place where he is appreciated, understood and cared for. We know he will be kept busy all day with activities that he enjoys, having a wonderful summer surrounded by people that know him and get him and that really care about him. He has become a part of the Kennebec family and we couldn't be happier.
